Division 2 - Bargod Rangers 4 v 1 Aberaeron Reserves
Bargod got off to a flier this week against a very good footballing side, phil pocock scored inside the first ten mins to put rangers ahead. a fantastic run from the heart of midfield saw the player beat two aber players before rifling home from just inside the box, a fine finish. Lee Brown was causing the defence few problems as a lone striker for most of the half but was chasing every ball with some energy.
Midway through the half Pocock was again causing Aber problems and this time his run could only be stopped with a blatant penalty, the defender upending Pocock with referee Angus Scourfield within good distance to see it very clearly. Pocock slotted home calmly with the keeper going the wrong way. 2-0. Rangers carried the lead into half time even though Aber had their fare share of the possession.
The second half saw Bargod get off to a flyer creating a terrific scoring opportunity with the opening attack but failed to capitalise.. Midway through Rangers made it three with a Llew Jones strike, his fifth of the season.. With Aber pushing further up the park Rangers switched to 5-4-1 to soak up some pressure. Then from nowhere Lee Brown scored from a corner nipping behind the jumping keeper and centre back.
It wasn't to be an unlikly comeback however, when Adam Morgan crossed for Captain Harri Stephens to head home. The captain bravely avoiding ruining his new hairstyle in the process. A welcome return to league football for Morgan too, who has been absent since last seasons cup final.. Players of note were again Sam Skinner in defence working tirelessly in the closing stages to close down Abers midfield and strikers.
Although Ap Neill Buck and Joe Owen were also superb in defence, man of the match had to be Phil Pocock who not only scored two but created numerous chances and caused Aber problems all day. A good win against a very good footballing side who kept to there ball on the floor gameplan throughout with some slick passing, credit to Aberaeron for that.
